Saturday morning yard sales continue to be a priority for me this summer. I have learned to scout out the yard sales that will have the most supplies on Craigslist throughout the week. Anytime you can find an old teacher who is having one, you've hit the jackpot! Especially when it's a rainy morning with very few customers you just might be able to haul a crate full of books, a class set of calculators, DVD's and CD's, pocket charts, manipulatives, and much more for $20!! Talk about a steal!! I even looked at the back of one of the hard cover books from my haul which had a sticker price of 16.75?! Ridiculous, yard sales are a new teacher's best friend!

Yard Sales!
Okay, I'm going to admit I've never been one for second hand/used purchases before. But now that has all changed! Going to local yard sales every Saturday morning has become one of my favorite things to do. I get more excited about getting bargain priced items for my classroom than if I had a 100 dollar gift certificate to my favorite retail store. I scored all the items in the picture below for $10.00, YES $10.00 on my latest year sale run. If mention you are a teacher shopping for your classroom, most people will give things away to you for FREE. FREE is my favorite word to hear when I'm shopping. I highly encourage all teachers to hit up as many yard sales as possible over the summer, you can get so much good stuff. I also scored a free overhead as part of my latest haul. I don't really need it for school since we have document cameras and other new technology, but who could pass up a free overhead, I'm planning to use it this summer to paint quotes on the walls!
